Why Not Energy Services is a true born and bred Albertan family business. Back in 1991, Bill Birch started working on drilling rigs in Southern Alberta. He moved on to work as an independent consultant for the oil patch across Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan from 1996 until 2007.

In 2006, Bill married Teresa, and they had two sons, Josh and Liam. The whole family is part of Why Not Energy Services.

Back in 2008, Bill and Teresa started Birch Oilfield Services Ltd in the Horn River Basin. They grew the company to four branches offering tanker, vac and hot oil/pumping services, and fluid sales, with trucking added in 2009. In 2015, they sold the company to Canyon Technical Services.

By 2017, it was time to get back to business. Bill, Teresa, and the family are loyal Grande Prairie business owners and employers. In fact, most of their previous employees were a core part of their new business.

In the past five years, the fleet has grown from six to 20 power units. What hasn’t changed is Why Not Energy Services’ commitment to great customer service and safe work for all their new and repeat customers.

The fluid sales division was added in 2019 to better meet their customer’s needs.

Today, Why Not Energy remains a family run and operated business with 30 employees and a long list of loyal customers.
